Templated Synthesis of Metal -DNA Crossover Points ? Unusual Stability and Dynamic Character
Crossovers have been extensively used in DNA nanotechnology as they will provide DNA supramolecules with molecular rigidity necessary for nanomechanical devices or periodic arrays. The incorporation of transition metal as DNA crossover points would impart the resulting nanostructures with many desirable properties, such as redox and photophysical activity. Here we report the synthesis and properties of metal-bis(2,9-diphenol-1,10-phenanthroline) as the crossover point for DNA nanostructure building.
Using this method, a stable cyclic triangle DNA nano-structure junction was built at high yield This junction is unusually stable, fluorescent and has high induced CD signal. The three single strands in this junction offer possibilities to switch and modify the molecular geometry in real-time, and the template arms can be extended to form higher ordered structures
