Human tRNA Synthetases in Translation and Angiogenesis

Two human tRNA synthetases belong to a group of 20 enzymes that catalyze the first reaction in the protein biosynthesis pathway. Remarkably, naturally occurred processes give cytokine fragments that have opposing activities in regulating angiogenesis. I will be presenting the interesting activities of these fragments derived from the two human tRNA synthetases, and our investigation on their mechanism using multiple approaches. Those natural fragments are being prepared for human clinical applications ranging from diseases of eye to cancer.
